RDJ as a hero, yes! Also, I love John Corbett as Gerald. (I was thinking Brendan Fraser from the discovery piece, but this works really well if we’re supposed to find Gerald smarmy in addition to dumb.) Gotta ask tho – who’s the stand-in for Zel?
The bare trees on the first page made me go hmmmm. If I look straight up from my computer the same tree outline in black is on my bulletin board over my desk, only much larger. I had used it in a display I made last fall. My job takes me into 66 schools in the region and I put the name of each school on a little cutout apple and placed them on the tree. When the display was over I couldn’t throw out the tree. So I put it up in my office (I work from home) now it will make me think of fairytales.
Have to agree with you Brenda, on RDJ. And I think his acting has gotten better, if that’s at all possible, because he’s always been fabulous…something about those big brown eyes that pull you in and make any story believeable.
I gotta share this… My Hubby and I were at the Huntington Gardens in Pasadena CA the other day. When we got there, we discovered they were filming scenes for a movie there. The Movie: Iron Man 2. Was RDJ there? YES he was. We saw him as we watched the filming. during a break he looked over at us AND SMILED AT ME. I know it was me because I was the only one standing there at the time (Hubby had gone to harass the director). I about passed out. major SQUEEE moment.
@ Lucy: have you guys ever considered designing a collage to be used for the cover design on your books? They’re all so pretty, and plus the convey the idea of the story so well.
Jenny has collages today also. I had to admit on her blog that I feel collage inferior now. Same with you. The process still is helping me with the book. (Yes, I’m still working on it. I have committed myself to putting it down on 3/31 and not picking it up again until revisions in June.)
I forget how handsome RDJ is. Yum. You know when JC was on Northern Exposure I was nuts about him. Lately he’s played so many smarmy parts & played them so well, I think of him as smarmy.
And that woman from Community is beautiful and talented. The characters Con and Zel are already lovable. Can’t wait.
Lucy – I don’t know where you got that picture of RDJ but it is smoking hot!
BaDaBoom Betty – I live in the area and have been to Huntington Gardens several times – I can’t believe it was open while they were filming. Lucky You!!!
TEAM CON!!! (And I’ve never really been a fan of RDJ, but those pictures are smokin’ hot! Now I wanna go see Sherlock Holmes…) Srsly, Lucy, don’t play with us. Much like you didn’t want to hear anything negative about your discovery chapter (as IF!), we don’ wanna hear, “Um, maybe someday, maybe never, 2011?” “As soon as we can open a vein and get the words on the page and shove it into the hands of a publisher that would be a fool not to publish it even if he had to man the press himself!” would suit our tastes better. Thankyouverymuch!

Those are beautiful, and the textures make me want to reach out and stroke them.
I can’t wait for your Discovery class and getting to do this type of thing myself.

Ah man, I’ve had a thing for RDJ since his days in the 80s and he’s only gotten better with age. *auto-drool*. These are beautiful.

I love the images/elements – not fussy, very sleek. And yes, auto-drool engaged.
